about

"Nunca Mais", a composition by Joao Donato, Marisa Monte and Arnaldo Antunes, arranged and played by Gent Rushi.
João Donato wrote the music, Marisa Monte wrote the lyrics and Arnaldo Antunes revised them. Marisa and João share the vocals on the track of the album “Mangarroba” (2002) that originally mixes traditional Brazilian Popular Music with electronic elements.

I chose this song not only for the music, but for the lyrics which were close to my heart, says Amalia::
“I’ll never love you again, never again, between us there is no more, but if anyone asked, I would say that I wanted it so much more.
Much more than a dream would be capable of, much more than what already satisfies and pleases us, but after such joy, I know that I would suffer, much more, so much more.

(…) My love, I will try to stop lamenting missing you forever. I will stop being sad for not having you.”

Marisa Monte is an extraordinary singer who became the new sensation in the Brazilian music scene in 1987, never to leave it. Her work not only a singer but also as a composer is known and loved by fans of all ages, from the young crowd of rock fans to the more mature followers of jazz and Brazilian popular music. Arnaldo Antunes is a Brazilian musician, writer, and composer, ex-member of the rock band Titãs, which he co-founded in 1982 to pursue a solo career in 1992.

lyrics

Nunca mais vou gostar de você,
nunca mais
Nunca mais, entre nós não dá mais,
nada mais
Mas se alguém perguntasse eu diria
Queria, queria

Badaue, badaue, badaue bauera, badaue
